Supervisor/Sr.Supervisor Mission Assurance – Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Department

ATK has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Supervisor Mission Assurance (MA) in the NDT Department, at our Manufacturing Center of Excellence near Cumberland, MD. This is a premier ATK location with extreme corporate visibility. It is dedicated to the manufacture of defense and defense related products including rocket motors, warheads, gas generators, ceramic composites for aircraft components and launch tubes, metals and munitions as well as electronics, integration and test of electronic fuzes and sensors. Our manufacturing capabilities encompass motor and warhead loading, static and air-breathing testing, fiber placement, filament winding, hand lay-up, compression molding, high rate machining, flow forming, welding, assembly, and integration and test.

This position will be responsible for providing leadership and technical oversight to a MA/NDT team (i.e. ET, PT, and UT) in our NDT Department. Our successful candidate will have a very strong background in management, NDT (i.e. ET, PT, and UT), manufacturing, Lean principles, and AS9000 Quality systems. You will have proven leadership and partnering abilities, and will be able to prioritize tasks and projects and respond to shifting priorities. You will drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives to create an effective, customer-service oriented, MA/NDT team.



Responsibilities

- Supervise the MA/NDT team (i.e. ET, PT, and UT) across the plant

- Ensure that all stake holders’ requirements for the MA/NDT team are met as a minimum and exceeded as a norm

- Provide daily management of the MA/NDT teams’ costs and resources

- Ensure that proper budgets are allocated to your MA/NDT team by the Program Office so that all requirements are met on-time

- Ensure that adequate risk identification and mitigation efforts are conducted

- Ensure that customer and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) expectations and requirements are successfully addressed

- Provide Leadership to ensure that all MA training is implemented for your MA/NDT team to meet the need for successful performance

- Ensure that MA/NDT Technicians are trained and maintain the required skill level to meet NAS 410 and ATK/ABL’s Written Practice

- Successfully integrate as a Sr. Supervisor and work as a strategic partner with other NDT and Plant Supervisors

- Manage to a set of metrics, organize budgets and resources to achieve success, and be motivated by a Zero Defects philosophy

- Advise on and lead the implementation of new NDT methods/techniques, tools, and/or processes

Skills:
- ASNT NDT Certification (documented Level 3 experience will be considered)

- 5 or more years of relevant experience

- Previous NDT supervision or management experience

- Hands-on knowledge of and experience in the implementation of AS9100 Quality Systems standard, CMMI, and Lean principles

- Ability to obtain Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
