Perform guided wave, long range low frequency ultrasonic inspections utilizing Guided Ultrasonics Ltd. G3 and G4 systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with clients to assess the current conditions of select pipelines as requested.
Perform standard ultrasonic "A" and "B" scans within areas of interest.
Collect GIS data of the area to be inspected along with known and discovered features throughout guided wave inspections performed.
Provide isometric drawings of pipelines inspected throughout the data collection process.
Provide technical support as needed concerning guided wave applications.
Follow established manuals and standards. Improvise and adapt equipment.
Monitor equipment and make adjustments during inspections performed to compensate for non-relevant ultrasonic signals (example, reverb, mirror). Setup and operate peripheral computer controlled; equipment to input ultrasonic base line data in conjunction with guided wave operations
Inspect and interpret readings onsite in real time, to determine areas of interest. Analyze and interpret indications of flaws, defects, discontinuities or interference. Detect and identify all flaws and defects including size, clock position and general shape, mark location of defects both on materials inspected and report.
Provide comprehensive reports.
Accept or reject items in compliance with fracture control specifications or other critical customer requirements.
Perform tasks to the extent certified and qualified.
Set-up and calibrate all equipment used.
Conduct field tests with ultrasonic testing equipment.
Conduct tests in the basic NDT methods to the extent certified and qualified in.
Interpret, evaluate, and document results through formal reports.
Direct the work of trainees and Level I personnel in the method(s) in which certified and capable of.
Provide direction and guidance with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the employer.
Assist account managers with quoting projects as needed.
Responsible for all paperwork to be turn in a timely manner
Maintain and promote a positive attitude toward Assistants and Customers.
Skills:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Ability to set up and standardize equipment, conduct tests, interpret and evaluate findings in compliance with required specifications, standards and or customer specifications.
Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the techniques and method in which are to be employed.
Be capable of developing written work instructions from approved general procedures.
Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products
Basic knowledge and understanding of product manufacturing and inspection technology.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Knowledge of arithmetic and algebra
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Must have the ability to meet company certification standards.
Must be able to travel out of town 50% or more of the time.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to work various shifts.
Possess current Guided Ultrasonics Ltd level 1 certification (1 year experience minimum)
Advanced modules provided by Guided Ultrasonics Ltd. a plus, if not currently held, possess the ability to obtain and pass the courses through external training when offered.
Previous experience and knowledge of advanced UT applications such as Phased Array, Tip Diffraction, IGSCC & TOFD a plus
High school diploma or equivalent.
GIS knowledge and or experience preferred yet not required.
Ability to draw isometrics.
Ability to read and understand P&ID schematics.
