POSITION SUMMARY
The Site Radiation Safety Officer (SRSO) acts as the principal technical resource to departmental and branch management on radiation safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Interpreting regulatory requirements, training, shielding, accountability and operational requirements for the safe and reliable operation of Company equipment
2. Oversee the Trustworthy &Reliable (T&R) documentation process
3. Develop and oversee an innovative and comprehensive research radiation safety program
4. Apply knowledge of gamma and x-ray imaging systems
5. Serve as trained Radiation Protection Officer to ensure the proper storage, handling, shipping and receiving of radioactive materials
6. Ensure and document that all personnel working with and handling radioactive material, have all required training required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and or the appropriate state regulations
7. Ensure work areas are cleaned and maintained in a safe and workable condition as specified
8. Review new or proposed processes, facilities or procedures to ensure radiation hazards are minimized and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and policies are met
9. Assist with Hazard assessments and Risk Assessments
10. Recommend and implement additional programs as laws and compliance requirements change
11. Assure that all records are kept according to the NRC and or the appropriate state regulations
12. Perform field audits on Trainers, Radiographers, and Trainees as needed.
13. Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS
1. Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, crawling, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation and color vision
2. Moving, carrying and lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds
3. Climbing and working off of ladders, stairs and scaffolding in excess of 100 feet continuously throughout shift
4. Be able to climb ladders and platforms up to 250 feet with a harness and lanyard
5. Be able to step up into vehicles or onto equipment
6. Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time
7. Working in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold
8. Work in and near industrial hazards
9. Be able to work outdoors in warm, hot and cold conditions

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. High School degree/GED or higher
2. Minimum of two years’ experience in radiographic operations as a Radiographer Trainer

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Works directly with clients on technical aspects of the projects and therefore must be able to communicate technical requirements and deliverables clearly and concisely.

FEEDER/SOURCE POSITIONS
Radiographer Trainers, Radiographers and Trainees report to the SRSO with any radiological emergency
