SUMMARY
Plans, coordinates, directs and performs quality control functions and directs programs designed to ensure continuous production of fabrications consistent with established standards and specifications by performing the following duties personally and through staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Engages in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products and directs workers in inspection and testing in same functions.

Is knowledgable of AWS welding standards and how they relate to company processes and specifications of projects. Establishes and documents weld procedures for new processes.

Holds the current designation of Certified Weld Inspector and continues to maintain it in order to perform weld inspections on products.

Prior or current certification in NDT as a Level II or III in UT, MT, PT or at least be very familiar with the processes.

Ability to read blueprints and perform dimensional inspections on material and fabrications helping workers meet specifications and documenting discrepancies as required.

Certifies welders and maintains welder qualification records. Responds to customer inquiries regarding weld procedures and welder and inspector qualifications.

Run, create, train and maintain Faro Laser Tracker inspection programs and documentation. Maintain technical skills on all technical measuring devices as required.

Create and maintain inspection data spreadsheets utilizing Excel.

Meets with contractors and customers when on site for inspection visits as well as to represent the company on job site visits. Investigates and resolves customer complaints regarding quality.

Possesses construction and fabrication savvy. Work as a team to problem solve and resolve issues acceptable to all parties involved, such as the owner, contractor and company personnel.

Interprets and communicates quality control philosophy to key personnel in organization. Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.

Plays active role on quality management teams within organization.

Ability to understand and follow all proper procedures and policies, making sure they work in a safe manner, and the area around them safe for themselves and co-workers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises two non-supervisory employees in the Quality Control Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree (A.A.) or certificate from a two-year college; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to use measuring device utilizing the metric system.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Must be able to pass an annual eye exam where vision can be corrected to at least 20/30.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Skills:
Prefer CWI, prior or current certification in NDT as a Level II or III in UT, MT, PT or at least be very familiar with the processes and NACE Certified Inspector Program.

Manage the QC Department, welding certifications and processes, as well as perform inspections of an AISC certified fabricator.
