Position Summary

Acuren is currently looking for qualified 4 Level II VT,
PT Technician to support a nuclear industry client;


Must be Nuclear badged

Must have been on a Nuclear site within the last year

Locations will vary.

The requirements for candidate acceptance/certification
at Acuren’s nuclear industry client include the
following:

1. For certification to ANSI N 45.2.6 Visual: A
minimum of three years experience in weld inspection.
This can include time as an assistant, level I, or level
II in MT, PT, VT, RT, UT (shear wave – thickness does not
qualify), or as a welder. This experience has to be
documented.
2. Ability to certify as Level II VT to CLIENT’s
written practice, including documentation of:
a. Documented formal classroom training of 24 hours.
b. Minimum of 210 documented experience hours in
visual inspection. (Remember that a visual inspection is
performed in conjunction with every MT, PT, RT, and UT
shear wave.) This experience needs to be obtained in a
1.5 to 9 month period.
c. Minimum of 400 total documented NDT experience
hours.
3. Ability to certify as Level II PT to CLIENT’s
written practice, including documentation of:
a. Documented formal classroom training of 16 hours.
b. Minimum of 210 documented experience hours in PT.
This experience needs to be obtained in a 1.5 to 6 month
period.
c. Minimum of 400 total documented NDT experience
hours.
4. High School Diploma or GED. Employee must be able
to produce documentation and it must be verifiable.
CLIENT will contact the issuing institution.
5. Ability to pass the nuclear security screening
process:
a. Valid driver’s license.
b. Original or notarized birth certificate with
raised seal or valid US passport.
c. Documentation of all education claimed.
d. No pending or open litigation. This includes DUI,
or other reckless driving-type traffic offenses, and any
pending criminal charges (felony or misdemeanor). Felony
convictions potentially may disqualify applicants.
e. Must not be subject to "extreme financial
hardship" such as pending IRS recovery of back taxes,
etc.
f. Cannot have failed any FFD (Fitness For Duty)
testing and cannot have been subjected to non-voluntary
substance abuse treatment.
g. Minimum of 5 character references that can be
contacted during normal working hours. (Ensure that phone
numbers are current and the person is available – not
working out of town or out of the country where they
can’t be reached. Employee should contact all references
prior to arriving at CLIENT.) These 5 references should
be capable of generating 5 additional character
references for the candidate that can be contacted during
normal working hours. (Again, ensure that these
references can be reached. Employee should contact these
additional references prior to arriving at CLIENT.) The
employee should have several extra references (that have
already been verified and contacted) available as
backups.
h. Complete written work history with no gaps. All
gaps in employment or education must be verified with
multiple references that can verify the employee’s
whereabouts and activities during these gaps. See
requirements for references in 6.g (above). This history
must go back to the employee’s last nuclear access or
their 18th birthday.
i. Radiation dose history – year-to-date and
lifetime. Most nuclear plants have administrative limits
around 2 R for the year. If any candidate currently has
received a YTD dose in excess of 1 R, we need to notify
CLIENT in advance for approval. If they are over 2 R YTD,
they most likely will not be accepted by CLIENT for the
training.
6. We need to put our best personnel forward for
this customer. The training and knowledge requirements
are rigorous. The candidates must be capable of learning
some basic skills:
a. Good, solid written communication skills for
generating reports.
b. Professional appearance and attitude, excellent
work ethic, punctuality, and self starting/motivated.
c. Solid interpersonal skills - ability to interface
with all work groups including the Client, project
management, welders, machinists, etc.
d. Ability to work with the ASME code.
e. Ability to read drawings and prints.
f. Ability to understand and adhere to multiple
procedures. (Nuclear Safety/ALARA, Client Procedures,
Welding/Machining - production work, NDE, Inspection,
etc.)
g. Visual inspection of welds, including use of weld
gauges and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers,
etc.)
h. Basic understanding of welding procedures and AWS
welding symbols.
i. Leadership skills are a plus.
j. Ability to certify in MT is a plus. CWI, SCWI, or
Level III credentials are a plus.
k. Previous unescorted access at a nuclear power
plant is a major plus.
l. Willingness to travel is required. Typical
assignments are 3 to 8 week durations, six to seven days
a week, generally 10 to 12 hours per shift, day and night
shift assignments.
m. Current valid passport is a plus.
Desire/willingness to travel overseas is a plus, but not
necessarily required.
7. All personnel must be available for deployment to
a project following the training/certification class.
8. Personnel should be full-time Acuren employees
with proven track records.
