Honda Aero, Inc. in Burlington, NC is in search of a talented NDT Inspector, Level II to join our team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for performing nondestructive testing of metallic and composite parts using multiple nondestructive test methods. The person assuming this role will be a member of an associate team with the responsibility of performing a variety of Quality inspections. Essential job duties and responsibilities include:

• Performs inspection duties utilizing engineering drawings and orders, route cards, inspection travelers, technical specifications, QA procedures and instructions and other related documents
• Reads and interprets complicated blueprints and specifications, including customer and vendor specifications. Evaluates and documents results
• Performs nondestructive evaluations of composite parts using Ultrasonic Inspection (A-scan and C-scan)
• Performs nondestructive evaluations of metallic parts using Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection and X-ray
• Prepares part specific techniques and work with Level 3 for NDT program development
• Performs daily checks of equipment used for nondestructive evaluations
• Assists with selection and set-up of nondestructive equipment for nondestructive testing methods
• Responsible for verification of cure data for bonded parts
• Responsible for evaluating the receipt of materials to confirm material test reports meet specification requirements
• Supports inspection of receiving, in-process, and final inspection of parts, assemblies, accessories, and materials for conformance to specifications
• Helps identify causes of rejects and follows-through for corrective action
• Performs product and process audits using basic auditing principles, procedures and techniques to evaluate our internal compliance to documented procedures
• Provides feedback to engineering, manufacturing and suppliers as required
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Specific Skills
Education/Experience:
• Minimum of five (5) years of aerospace inspection or quality experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an NAS410, EN4179, or ISO 9712 qualified Level 2 inspector performing:
o A-scan and C-scan (air and water) inspection on carbon fiber laminates with complex geometry
• Experience as an NAS410, EN4179, or ISO 9712 qualified Level 2 inspector for the following is a plus:
o fluorescent penetrant inspection on aluminum, steel, and titanium parts with smooth and cast surfaces
o X-ray inspection of braze joints
• Current Powerplant certificate a plus
• Familiarity with CMM software such as Zeiss Calypso or FARO CAM2 a plus

Skills:
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Possesses a knowledge and understanding of tooling, gauges, specifications, procedures
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of industrial manufacturing processes and techniques
• Good working knowledge of statistics and metrics
• Strong problem solving experience using root cause analysis
• Knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation
• Knowledge of continuous improvement and experience implementing lean manufacturing
• Knowledge of AS9100 / FAA quality system requirements a plus
• Experience writing work instructions and conducting internal audits a plus
• Experience working with General Electric Aviation specifications for nondestructive processes a plus
• Advanced Blueprint reading skills for interpretation of drawings, notes, revisions, GD&T, tolerances and symbols a plus
• Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) a plus
Job Related Specific Skills:
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Proficient knowledge of Lotus Notes
• Demonstrated ability to understand and learn electronic databases such as ERP/MRP systems
• Proven data entry capability and experience
