Position Summary
Acoustic Emission Level II technicians are qualified to perform specific calibrations and tests, and acceptance or rejection determinations allow little or no deviation from the procedure.

AE Level II technicians may be responsible to instruct / supervise and mentor Level I technicians.

Responsibilities
Set up and calibrate acoustic emission testing equipment. Be knowledgeable with the SAMOS DiSP 32 channel system and the AEWin software program.

Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using acoustic emission and other nondestructive testing methods

Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results

Organize and report test results
May instruct and supervise trainees

Requirements
High School Diploma
Level II Acoustic Emission
Level II UTT
College degree preferred, but not required
Strong technical background in NDT methods and procedures
Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDE tasks and interpret results of inspections
Knowledge of NDE equipment

Physical Demands
Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity-near, accommodation and color vision. Moving, carrying, lifting over one pound up to 50 pounds. Climbing and working off of ladders, working extended hours (12 + per day, up to 100 per week on occasion) and standing for extended periods of time (typically 90-95% of work day)

Including:
Ability to climb ladders up to 100 ft multiple times per day
Ability to climb stairs up to 100 ft multiple times per day
Ability to work up to 16 consecutive hours. (Normal workday is 8 hours; however, could work longer)
Ability to enter confined spaces through small entryways requiring bending and twisting to enter and exit
Ability to repetitively bend and or twist for most of the 12 hour shift to reach inspection areas
Must wear safety harness while climbing through pipe rack
Ability to work at 100 feet heights, confined spaces and highly volatile industry situations
