State College, PA - The Senior Manager of Transducer Engineering is responsible for leading a team of mechanical and ultrasonic acoustic engineers who are developing ultrasonic probes and scanners. This group is part of the Olympus Scientific Solutions Americas R&D Group. The majority of development is dedicated to quick-turn, custom, engineered-to-order phased-array probes and single-element probes. A smaller, but significant effort is devoted to more complicated scanners that are intended to be off-the-shelf products for more customers. To execute this work properly, the manager and the team members must collaborate routinely and work seamlessly with Program Management, Product Management, Production Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain. Job Duties:
* Deeply understand ultrasound transducer design and fabrication, assess design choices, development processes and the proper release of 3D/2D documents.

* Continually manage workload and resource allocation to optimize quality and output.

* Monitor the status of projects to allow early intervention on problems.

* Communicate status routinely with all other functions to enable early response to issues.

* Identify areas for process improvements based on engineering best practices and Lean methods.

* Identify gaps in knowledge and experience. Mentor, train and/or hire to fill gaps.

* Recruit and hire highly qualified Engineers and Interns as driven by capacity needs.

* Actively engage and inspire the team by providing context and purpose to their work.

* Develop multi-year career development plans that include new opportunities, training and coaching.

* Set high standards for quality work of individuals. Lead by example.

* Perform all other essential duties as assigned.
Skills:
(ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED)

* Bachelor's Degree in Science and/or Engineering is required; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree; Master's Degree is a plus.

* Minimum of 8 years engineering experience, including significant design and/or process experience in the industrial, analytic or scientific products industry is required; at least 12 years of experience is desired.

* Minimum of 5 years management experience is desired with proven ability to lead and motivate R&D or Product Development Teams.

* Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is highly desired.

* Strong analytical and hands-on technical experience, especially with ultrasound transducers, is essential.

* Must be able to build effective working relationships with high trust.

* Lean Six Sigma and statistical skills are desired.

* Ability to create an effective and enjoyable working environment is necessary.

* Proven project planning and on-time execution skills are essential.

* Strong written, verbal and listening skills are necessary.

* Change management skills are desired.

* Strong hands-on technical experience is preferred.

* Attention to detail is a must.

* Expertise in documentation best practices and configuration control and management is essential.

* Must have enthusiasm for working in a diverse, technically-demanding, and exciting technology environment.
