The Operations Manager/RSO is responsible for meeting the customer’s needs and assuring good customer service through managing the day-to day operations of the lab. This includes scheduling projects and technicians, supplying equipment to meet project specifications, developing strong customer relations and reacting promptly to customer questions and concerns, and having responsibility for the business unit’s financial performance. The Operations Manager will also maintain a high functioning employee base through solid HR practices and safety education and awareness programs. Additionally, as the lab RSO, This individual is responsible for assuring that all job sites and the facility use of radiation conform to the MISTRAS Radioactive Material License, selected industry standards, and applicable government regulations. The RSO is responsible to assure that radiation exposures to personnel are as low as reasonably achievable

• Daily Call-Out for NDE services to the local oil fields (primarily RT)
• Routine project work at local gas plants involving API Inspections, Computed RT and Advanced NDE (Phased Array, GUL & LSI)
• NDE support of Pipeline and Facility fabrication
• Mechanical Integrity Inspections of new and existing facilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

General Functions:
• Manage daily activities and costs associated within department.
• Supervise individuals within the Operations Support Department as it relates to projects and responding to calls from customers (branches) requesting technical assistance.
• Problem solving and providing clear, supported and concise recommendation to management.
• Utilization of key performance indicators to increase customer value.
• Serve as back up to the General Manager in their absence or upon request.
• Review and approve time sheets and expense reports submitted by technical support staff.
• Properly complete all required forms and paperwork.
• Review state and federal laws and Mistras O & E and ensure that facility program is in compliance.
• Perform and/or review investigations of overexposures, accidents, losses, thefts, unauthorized receipts, misuses, or other deviations from approved radiation safety practice and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Respond to radiation safety emergencies, and prepare and submit reports to the appropriate governing bodies.
• Perform radiation safety audits and recommend improvements at each service location within the Mistras network.
• Ensure radiation protection equipment is calibrated and maintained in good working order
• Consolidate and computerize various program aspects. Improve and advance the overall culture of the Radiation Safety Program.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Provide administrative office assistance as needed.

Equipment/Vehicles:
• Ensure proper use of all company resources; including tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Oversee maintenance of shop and equipment.
• Oversee and or perform proper maintenance on radiation exposure devices, controls and source guide tubes.

Human Resources:
• Evaluate field technician’s effectiveness in fulfilling their job requirements.
• Recommend corrective or remedial action for employees.
• Understand all prerequisites required of personnel before performing field work.
• Promote and fully understand the policies set forth in the following manuals:

o Drug and Alcohol manual
o Safety Policy Manual
Safety:
• Ensure required training for field and supervisory personnel on safety, policies and procedures.
• Evaluate job safety to include all aspects of job performance for all service lines.

Customer/Project Manager Support:
• Serve as liaison with customers to estimate and quote project work.
• Coordinate and schedule work crews to cover customer requirements and requests.
• Coordinate schedules of Technicians per customer demands.

Additional Requirements:
• Complete all required training, and testing, within company guidelines.
• Knowledge of all company products and services that is available to our customers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 2-3 years of management experience in the nondestructive testing (NDT) or related field
• Strong knowledge of nondestructive testing.
• Strong communication skills to promote good team environment
• Sales and/or marketing experience a plus
• Must have (or acquire) formal training in the establishment and maintenance of a Radiation protection program.
• Must possess experience in the establishment and maintenance of a radiation protection program. We will send the right candidate for RSO/IATA training.
• Must be a certified Radiographer. Must Possess IRRSP Certification

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
• Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
