Position Summary: Responsible for conducting examinations and tests of the physical properties of materials and components to find possible corrosion, cracks, flaws and other imperfections, which could affect their performance and reliability by using testing processes that do not damage the structure of the object being tested.

Essential Functions:

Responsible to reactively or proactively conduct NDT investigations.
Responsible for compiling clear and actionable test reports especially with regards to part releases and appropriately raising non-conformance issues.
Responsible to develop and explain quality issues within the scope of tests to the customer which might affect the aircraft or cause in-service consequences.
Conducts various types of testing including:

Ultrasonic Testing: firing high frequency sound pulses into materials and analyzing the differences in the reflected signals.
Eddy Current Testing: passing electricity through materials and measuring the differences in the flow of current.

Prepare parts and sets-up equipment for inspection.
Conduct tests determining if part meets quality specifications or specifying discontinuities.
Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations.
Evaluate results according to specifications and standards. Reports on and interprets test results.
Complete NDT reports; to include completing and filing records of inspection results.
Develop and update NDT working instructions.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills:
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years experience in setting up and conducting tests or parts and materials.
A minimum of 3 years analyzing and reporting on findings that result from standard tests.
Experience working in a multicultural workplace is highly desirable.

Education/Special Qualifications:

An Associates' Degree in Aviation, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience utilizing testing equipment including maintenance and calibration of said equipment.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens.
Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings
Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment.
Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 55lbs/15kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 55lbs/15kg.
Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas.
Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time.
Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet.
Working in the wing or center box in a confined space. Entrance into wing through a 9.8 inch x 17.7 inch oval opening.
Handling of automated drilling units (weight up to approximately 55lbs./15kgs.).
