Position Purpose:
The main function of the Field Engineer 1 is to provide engineering support related to welds performed on pipelines and the quality assurance inspections for pipeline operators. Performing; mechanical assessment of pipeline damages such as external corrosion, internal corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, mechanical damage and seam weld quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Complete extensive training and field experience in the initial 18 months to gain certifications in several standard and specialized NDE methods.
* Gain field experience gathering and communicating information to support pipeline operators with solutions (mechanical assessment of pipeline damages such as external corrosion, internal corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, mechanical damage and seam weld quality) to assist in the management of the integrity of their pipeline systems in accordance with the Pipeline Safety Act of 2002 and the associated industrial regulations.
* Perform Non-destructive testing and evaluation of pipelines through various processes, including magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing, and liquid penetrant testing.
* Write reports for clients regarding testing and evaluation results.
* Create Excel spreadsheets for project data entry, including testing results.
* Administration management of projects, such as purchase orders and billing.
* Support operational inquires in a timely manner. Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
* Maintain a strong customer service focus.
* Enforce and abide the requirements of safe operation and personal safety using required Personal Protective Equipment and Safe Practices per company policy.
* Perform other job related tasks as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills:
* Practical application of Mechanical/Materials Engineering and or Engineering Science and Technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
* Design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
* Raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
* Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
* Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
* Prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes.
* Chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
* Detail oriented with a dedication to the quality control and quality assurance process; ability to understand and read complex design and fabrication plans and specifications.
* Ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments without sacrificing efficiency or quality of the work.
* Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse groups of people.
* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
* Be capable of developing written work instructions from approved general procedures.
* Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products
* Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
* Basic knowledge of materials and mechanical design.
* Learn and abide by contract policies and procedures.
* Ability to analyze and resolve less complex technical problems quickly and independently.
* Complete all required training, including tests, within company guidelines
* Be proficient with standard computer software (such as MS Word and Excel) and be able to write detailed inspection and shutdown reports while maintaining an organized system of files.

Education and Work Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college required.
* Minimum of 2 years Materials engineering or related field experience, including projects highly desired.
* Ability to analyze and resolve less complex technical problems quickly and independently.
* Basic knowledge of materials and mechanical design.

Certificates and Licenses Required:
* Employee must be able to pass an annual eye examination per the requirements
* Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.
