In this role the successful individual should be qualified to setup and calibrate equipment, interpret and evaluate test results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications. The candidate should also be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which qualified and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of trainees and Level I personnel.

•Calibrate all UT testing stations
•Close view/monitor of display terminals or equipment readouts
•Conduct hand probe of all UT indications requiring close observation and concentration
•Recommend further testing if required
•Operate in Lead capacity, internally collaborating with superiors and advising/consulting with peers
•Externally interacting with third party inspection to explain results of tests/investigations
Skills:
•Level II Ultrasonic Certification to SNT-TC-1A with minimum 1600 hours of documented OJT or ability to reach 1600 in 1 months’ time
•Proficient in Automated UT (AUT) and/or Manual UT (MUT)
•Able to lead in the manufacture of calibration standards. Preferable to have experience with operating an EDM machine, portable drill press and portable milling machine.
•Strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead and motivate a crew
•Strong attention to detail, close observation and concentration skills
•Good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and mechanical aptitude
•Proficient with Microsoft windows based software programs and MS office
•Excellent decision making, planning and organizational skills
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Advanced reading, writing and math skills
•Successful completion of Life’s Work ergonomics evaluation of physical requirements of position (routinely requires standing, walking, lifting up to 20lbs)
•Overtime and shift work required
•Able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise

Preferred:
•5 years job-related experience with thorough knowledge of a highly technical field
