NDT Inspector/Operator - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH



Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT):

Prepares surfaces as required by grinding to remove paints, scale, weld spatter, and other surface irregularities; uses solvent to remove grease, oil, tape, tape residue, dirt, etc.

Applies penetrant using proper applicators. Removes excess penetrant using shop towels or paper towels.

Applies developer using proper applicators. Evaluates test results using proper lighting.

Removes penetrant materials and cleans surfaces upon completion of testing, using solvents, towels/cloths.



Magnetic particle Inspection (MT):

Prepares surfaces as required by grinding to remove paint, scale, weld spatter, and other surface irregularities.

Uses solvents to remove grease, oil, tape, tape residue, paint, dirt, etc.

Performs required AC/DC dry or wet test technique using proper equipment and accessories.

Evaluates test results using proper lighting. Demagnetizes parts if required.

Cleans surfaces upon completion of testing to remove particles using compressed air, shop tows or solvents. Grinds and verifies the removal of prod marks.

Works in accordance with written Quality Control technical procedures, manufacturing processing instructions, and verbal instructions provided by immediate supervisor.

Does incidental grinding & polishing as required. Uses the required tools, equipment, accessories, and procedures to perform the specified inspection test method.

Evaluates test results and makes accept/reject decisions in accordance with procedure criteria and provide written documentation as required.

Identifies defects, removes defects when directed using proper hand tools, prepares resultant cavities suitably for welding, charts general locations of defective areas, documents non-relevant conditions with charts/sketches and proper written conclusions, maintains proper preheat controls during tests.

Moves materials, parts and components as directed. Sets up and works from scaffolding, moves major scaffolding after initial set-up, moves and re-sets preheat equipment as required to maintain preheat controls.

Works from written and verbal instructions and drawings.

Informs proper personnel of test results. Responsible for exact process and related documentation auditable by the customer.

Provides individual signature and detailed inspection data on applicable documents providing verification of work performed.

Maintains records as directed, keeps work area clean, neat and orderly.

Job Qualifications / Requirements *


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

* HS Diploma or GED required (will be verified), plus 5 years on the job experience - strongly prefer in a close tolerance manufacturing/fabrication environment.

* Must be able to work ANY SHIFT.
* Must be a US CITIZEN. Must not hold a Dual Citizenship.
* Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check prior to hire date.

* Once hired, the candidate must pass testing and become qualified to BWXT's NDE requirements concerning liquid penetrant and magnetic particles.

* Candidate must communicate effectively with co-workers and have the willingness to take direction from shop foremen and supervisors.
