Experienced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector NAS410 Certified Level II MT/PT

Hytek Finishes offers an exciting work opportunity in support of surface finished aerospace parts! As an NDT Inspector, you will ensure that critical parts on the aircraft are flight worthy. We have an onsite NDT Level III inspector who will be training you to achieve your Level II Inspection certifications in-house, and ultimately, can partner with you to create a training plan to eventually become our next Level III NDT Inspector if desired!

**Applicants must provide a copy of their NAS-410 Level II Certificate(s) in Magnetic Particle and/or Liquid Penetrant. This would also include employer provided OJT (On-the-Job) training hours upon submission of our qualification process.

Title: Aerospace Process Support 2 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector MT and PT
Reports to: Value Stream Manager
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)
Schedule: 2nd Shift - Mon-Fri, 2PM to 10:30PM; Training on 1st shift for 30 days.
Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday – Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Job Summary

This is an Inspector trainee position in our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) department. Employees in this position will become certified for Hytek Finishes as an NDT Inspector. The individual in this role will be considered an Inspector Trainee until certified by the Level III NDT Responsible in each of the two areas of NDT Inspection performed at Hytek: Magnetic Particle, Liquid Florescent Penetrant, and are able to perform the work independently. On the job training, as well as study time is granted to all Inspector Trainees.

Responsibilities

Work closely with experienced Inspectors and NDT Level III Responsible to complete work and prioritize tasks.
Follow technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced NDT Inspectors; and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred.
General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
Prepare parts prior to operations; use proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable.
Familiar with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.
Familiar with engineering drawing notations.
Develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement.
Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service.
Work and coordinate with other departments in order to meet customer demand.
Other duties as assigned, including cross-training in other Production areas as workflow demands.

Qualifications

Ability to pass Written and Practical examinations prior to Hytek certifications. All Trainees are required to become NAS410 Level II NDT Certified Inspectors through Hytek’s training program.
Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others.
Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally).
Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
Ability to use/learn Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
Required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program and pass an initial and annual Industrial Eye Exam.
Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
Ability to Read/Write/Communicate in English.
Must be able authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

1-2 years in manufacturing environment a plus; or alternatively, aerospace production.
Candidates must have previous NAS410 Level II certification in Magnetic Particle and/or Liquid Penetrant, including well-documented OJT training hours. (Candidates May still apply IF they have completed one NAS410 Level II area such as Mag or Liquid Pen and can show OJT hours).
In process of NDT certifications for Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant Inspection a plus.

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, Personal Protection Equipment is required including safety glasses, goggles, aprons, rubber boots, and gloves (provided by Company).

Salary Range for position: $25.00 - $45.00. *DOE, Dependent Upon Experience that includes achieving at least one or more NAS410 Level II Certification(s) in Magnetic Particle or Liquid Penetrant or both, including OJT hours.

We are offering up to a $15,000 hiring bonus for already certified NAS-410 Level II Inspectors in Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspection.

Hiring bonus details: You would be eligible for a $10,000 Sign On bonus for NAS-410 Level II certification if you have successfully achieved at least one of the two disciplines only, or $15,000 for both Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Inspection certifications. Pay out of SignOn bonus would be $5,000 first pay period; $5,000 after successfully testing as a Level II in MT, and final $5K after successfully testing as a Level II in PT.
