Responsibilities
Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment
Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection
Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
Organize and report test results
Perform specialized inspections
May instruct and supervise others
Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management
Requirements
VT Level II- A minimum of three years of experience in weld inspection and a minimum of two years with VT II certification- a minimum documented classroom training of 24 hours and 210 documented experience hours in VT.
A minimum of 400 total documented NDT experience hours.
PT Level II- A minimum of 16 hours of documented classroom training and 210 documented hours of experience in PT.
A High School diploma or GED is required.
The ability to pass a nuclear security background screening including valid Driver License, birth certificate and/or passport, documentation of education, no open litigation including DUI or any reckless driving type offenses, and no pending felony or misdemeanor charges.
Must have at least five character references.
Complete work history with no gaps.
Radiation dose history is needed, both year-to-date and lifetime.
Solid written communication is needed as well as professional appearance and attitude, ability to work with ASME code, read drawings and prints, use weld gauges and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Ability to certify to MT is a plus.
CWI or level III credentials is a plus.
Previous unescorted access at a nuclear power plant is a major plus.
A willingness to travel is required.
Typical assignments are 3 to 8 weeks in duration, working 6 to 7 days per week, generally 10 to 12 hours per shift with both day and night shifts being needed at times.
Current valid passport is a plus. A willingness/desire to travel overseas is a plus, but not required.
