The Space Science Services, LLC team, part of the ATS Family of Companies, provides Radiographic (Gamma & X-Ray), Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Eddy Current, Visual as well as CWI and API inspections to support a wide range of clients in the aerospace, chemical, construction, petrochemical, pulp & paper, and power generation industries.

This position requires the ability to manage people and resources on multiple projects, maintain current client relationships with a great sense of customer service through interaction on a professional level and encourages repeat business.  Managers position is crucial to contribute to future growth and expansion of the Space Science Services, LLC company culture.



Summary: ATS is seeking a Department Manager to support Space Science Services in Dothan, AL.



Responsibilities/Duties:

Ensure clients are receiving top quality services on projects in accordance with Space Science Services, LLC procedures, industry standards and codes.
Ability to communicate issues/results effectively with customers via telephone or in person.
Maintain office organization and generate ideas for improvements.
Manage the talent within the office and giving appropriate feedback.
Responsible in understanding and ensuring policies and procedures are complying with safety and quality requirements as set forth by Space Science Services, LLC.
Shall have management control over access to equipment and personnel in their area of responsibility.
Responsible for ensuring evaluation of division employes under his/her team and issuing disciplinary action if needed.
Subject to executive approval, he/she has the authority to hire and terminate the employment of those not meeting the policy and culture of the company.
Responsible for willingness to self-educate / receive formal training in NDT technology.
Enter into agreements once reviewed by the legal department and based on limits set by management regarding supply of services and purchase of supplies and equipment.
The Department Manager will agree to consult Employer before making major decisions which affect the operation and profitability of Space Science Services, LLC.
Perform Engineering calculations as needed and review of API Reports.
Skills:
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent, and/or Mechanical Engineering degree.
5+ years of Engineering experience.
Basic knowledge of Power Generation and pulp and paper mills operation.

Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Work Conditions:

Department Manager works in the office and will be required to work at customer facilities and/or industrial plants.
Will require travel to maintain communication with clients.
May work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments.
Work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man-baskets, etc.
May work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.
May be required to work up to 12 hours including weekends or holidays.
