The Engineer I applies a broad knowledge of a specific technical subject matter to support TSMD’s technical teams with testing, process and project development, problem solving, and continuous improvement.

Reporting Relationships

The Engineer I reports to their department engineering manager.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices in a specific technical area.
Leads projects as assigned by engineering manager.
Documents work effectively and presents results to internal cross functional groups.
Develops and maintains procedures, work instructions, and training materials to support technical area.
Works cross functionally on projects and initiatives.
Applies problem solving, SPC, and other engineering fundamentals to support investigations.
Supports continuous improvement initiatives, including quality and EHS opportunities.
Supports technical discussions with suppliers and customers in specific technical area of focus.
Contributes to culture through alignment with company values and code of conduct. Maintains a positive attitude, displays enthusiasm for assignments, and communicates effectively and professionally with team members.
Ability to perform and interpret a variety of ultrasonic tests and ensure compliance to quality standards.
Experience in no-destructive testing and inspection methods
Other related duties.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Degree with Non-destructive Testing Experience


Skills and Qualifications

Broad knowledge of technical focus area.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of structured problem solving, SPC, lean principles, and FMEA preferred.
Computer literacy required.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as defined by process.
Process Engineers – Non-Destructive Testing, Materials Science

Process Engineering supports TSMD’s manufacturing and R&D operations with process-specific expertise. Process engineers monitor key processes using SPC, address non-conforming product issues, apply structured problem solving to drive root cause analysis, conduct equipment and process qualifications, and support operations with preparation of process and training documentation. Process engineers drive continuous improvement for cost reduction, process capability, efficiency, safety, and environmental improvements.

Skills:
Candidates for this position should have experience in non-destructive testing and inspection methods. This candidate should be able to perform and interpret a variety of ultrasonic tests, including conventional UT and Phased array to detect flaws and ensure compliance with quality standards. They should be able to develop, validate and document NDT inspection procedures and techniques for new and existing products. They should be able to analyze and interpret ultrasonic inspection data using various software platforms. This candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Nondestructive testing, with a focus on ultrasonic methods.
