Summary of Description:
The Advanced CR/DR Technician will report directly to the Manager who will establish clear expectations in terms of work quality, efficiency, and technical development. The Advanced CR/DR Technician will provide nondestructive examinations using RT, PT, MT, and UT-A methods.
Duties:
Provide non-destructive examination in the following methods:
Radiographic Examination.
Liquid Penetrant Examination.
Magnetic Particle Examination.
Ultrasonic Thickness measurements; and,
Positive Material Identification testing.
Perform Level II CR inspections and other NDE inspections as specified with the Company's procedures.
Operate and maintain Computed Radiography equipment, software, and hardware as per company requirements and manufacturers recommendations.
Establish and calibrate testing equipment and materials.
Calculate, establish, and control of the radiation area.
Evaluate and interpret product results to the code of construction or customer specifications.
Perform additional NDE service methods like level II RT, MT, PT, UT-A.
Answer call outs to assist the Inspection department after regular shift or on the weekend.
Travel as needed.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) and with at least eleven (11) years of experience in discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements:
Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement.
Possession of a valid TWIC required.
Valid State Radiographers card or IRRSP card.
A minimum of 80 hours of documented Radiography Level I and II training.
A minimum of 40 hours of documented Computed Radiography experience.
16 hours of documented CR / DR Software/Hardware training (GE/Waygate preferred)
Level II certifications in accordance with SNT-TC-1A in RT, PT, MT, and UT-A.
Documented experiences hours, OJT hours, and classroom training for all NDE methods previously certified.
Positive Material Identification Certification with using the XRF and OES/LIBS equipment.
Prefer qualified applicants to possess a Nondestructive Testing industry credentials and certifications per CP-189 or SNT-TC1A written training and certification programs.
Prefer qualified applicants to possess an ASNT or ACCP credentials and certifications.
Skills:
Specific Skills:
Familiar with applicable welding codes, i.e., ASME, API, AWS, etc.
Strong Petrochemical/Refinery experience.
Required to pass Level II testing methods upon hire to perform job duties.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
Ability to work in confined or enclosed spaces as needed.
Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting to 75 lbs. may be required.
