Position Overview

The Level II Computed Radiography (CR) Technician is responsible for performing and supervising NDT activities, managing assigned personnel and equipment, and ensuring compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.

This position operates under the standards established by the Quality Control Council of the United States National Non-Destructive Testing Agreement, Article 6, and applicable McNDT Pipeline, Ltd. policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee NDT and radioactive operations, ensuring compliance with all safety and quality procedures.
• Lead daily field operations with assigned personnel and equipment.
• Operate and maintain Computed Radiography (CR) systems, related software, and auxiliary equipment.
• Set up, calibrate, and control testing equipment; calculate exposure and establish radiation areas safely and efficiently.
• Interpret and evaluate results according to codes, specifications, or customer requirements.
• Produce and deliver high-quality radiographs and inspection reports.
• Communicate scheduling needs, changes, and project progress with the Operations Manager.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including vehicles, workspaces, and equipment.
• Ensure on-site customer satisfaction and proactively address or report issues to management.
• Support training and mentoring of assistants and new personnel according to McNDT’s SNT-TC-1A written practice.
• Participate in company initiatives such as continuous improvement programs and safety campaigns.
• Report any abnormal operating conditions to the RSO, management, or local authorities as required.
• Exercise stop-work authority in any unsafe condition and report actions immediately to appropriate personnel.

Skills:
Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current or immediately obtainable Level II certification in the applicable NDT method (per SNT-TC-1A).
• Possession of a valid Industrial Radiographer Certification Card from Illinois or a state with reciprocity.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to promote safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
• Willingness to travel as required for projects across Illinois and surrounding regions.
