The Immersion Ultrasonic Technician is responsible for performing nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections using immersion ultrasonic equipment on aerospace components and materials. This role supports quality assurance, customer specifications, and regulatory compliance by detecting discontinuities, defects, and material inconsistencies in accordance with industry standards and written procedures. The technician works closely with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure safe, accurate, and timely inspection results.

Key Responsibilities
Perform immersion ultrasonic inspections on aerospace components, raw materials, forgings, composites, and machined parts.
Set up, calibrate, and operate automated and manual immersion ultrasonic testing systems.
Interpret ultrasonic signals and evaluate inspection data in accordance with customer, aerospace, and industry specifications.
Review work instructions, blueprints, engineering drawings, and applicable standards prior to inspection.
Generate accurate inspection reports and maintain detailed documentation of test results.
Verify calibration standards and ensure equipment is functioning within required tolerances.
Identify and report nonconforming conditions or defects to Quality and Engineering teams.
Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities as needed.
Maintain compliance with NADCAP, ASTM, AMS, Boeing, Airbus, Pratt & Whitney, GE Aerospace, and other customer requirements.
Ensure adherence to all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Assist in training junior technicians and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
Level I, II, or III Ultrasonic Testing certification in accordance with NAS 410 or SNT-TC-1A preferred.
Minimum 2–5 years of immersion ultrasonic testing experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
Experience operating immersion tanks, automated UT scanning systems, and related inspection software.
Ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings, specifications, and procedures.
Familiarity with aerospace materials including metals, composites, forgings, and bonded structures.
Strong understanding of ultrasonic testing principles, calibration methods, and defect interpretation.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic quality documentation systems.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
