FOERSTER is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical and pneumatic systems for automated testing, handling equipment, tooling, and production machinery.
This is a hands-on engineering role. Youll take projects from concept through detailed design, work closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing, purchasing, and assembly teams, and stay involved through machine build, debugging, testing, and final acceptance.
FOERSTER is a third-generation, family-owned technology company with more than 75 years of experience developing non-destructive testing and measurement systems for demanding industrial applications around the world.
WHAT YOULL DO
Design mechanical and pneumatic systems for automated testing, handling equipment, tooling, and production machinery using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Turn customer requirements into manufacturable layouts, 3D models, detailed drawings, Bills of Materials, and production-ready documentation.
Perform engineering calculations involving loads, tolerances, fits, speeds, thermal and structural considerations, and FEA as needed.
Select materials, components, and hardware based on performance, reliability, cost, and availability.
Design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, safety, and long-term reliability.
Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, purchasing, and assembly teams from concept through completion.
Release designs to production, manage revisions and engineering changes, and communicate project risks early.
Support machine assembly, troubleshooting, debug, run-off, and Factory Acceptance Testing.
Apply lessons learned to simplify designs, reduce cost, and improve the reliability of future systems.

Skills:
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
Youll be a strong fit if you have experience designing automated machinery, robotic automation, component testing equipment, or similar mechanical systems.
Strong SolidWorks and 3D CAD skills.
Experience with conceptual design, prototyping, and FEA.
Strong mechanical design and practical problem-solving ability.
Good organization, time management, and project prioritization.
Clear communication with technical teams, suppliers, and customers.
A mindset focused on complete, build-ready designs, not concepts alone.
5+ years of experience is preferred.
Knowledge of Eddy Current Testing is a plus.
