New universal testing instrument for aircraft materials “DAMI-C09“
Posted:
Universal testing instrument for aircraft materials "DAMI-C09" combines the impedance, eddy current and impact testing methods. The device is excellent in detecting and C-imaging of the flaws in metal or non-metal composite parts and honeycomb structure elements and in detecting of nonferromagnetic alloys corrosion in different aviation costructions.

DAMI-C09 provides the impedance, eddy current and impact testing methods. The device is intended to detect and C-image the defects in composite materials and honeycomb structures. It can also detect the corrosion, surface and subsurface defects in different metal constructions and alloys.

The excellent functional capabilities of the device enable to automate the defect detection process due to the automatic adjustment of the probe for the testing object with regard to material density and structure. Contact liquid is not required as the dry point contact is used.

Main applications
Aircraft industry
Space industry
Shipbuilding industry
Automotive industry, etc.

Testing materials and constructions:
- Non-metallic layer constructions (from carbon fiber-reinforced plastics, glass-reinforced plastics, composite epoxy materials)
- Non-metallic sheathed and polyamide paper based or other materials
- Metal-sheathed honeycomb structures (including the perforated ones)
- Different constrcutions
- Bonded layer constructions (2-layer, 3-layer, 4-layer constructions)
- Rough honeycomb and other structures with the altering surface impedance and (or) alternate thickness
- Non-ferromagnetic sheet constructions

"DAMI-C09" provides the following testing techniques:
-Mechanical Impedance Analysis (using the single and dual probes) - for the testing and detection of such defects as disbonds, discontinuities and density anomalies for a wide range of composite and honeycomb materials and structures and C-imaging of detected defects;
-Impact technique - for the express testing of wide areas of honeycomb materials and building of interpolated images of tested areas;
-Eddy current technique - for detection of corrosion on the backside of non-ferromagnetic sheet in different constructions and building images of corroded zones.

Features:
-Automated adjustment by amplitude or signal phase, using the spectrum analyzer, simplifies the device preparation for operating.
-In order to determine the probe position on the testing object, the coordinate device "Slider M2" (scanner) is used.
The "Slider M2" is switched to the device via the separare channel; the probe is put into the special holder; the scanning sector is 300õ420mm. To process the large squares, there is the sector-wise scanning with further "collection" of testing results. The coordinates received with the scanner are used to build the "B-" and "C-"scans, which are stored in the device archive and printed as the test protocols.
The scanning device "Slider M2" provides two fastenings: magnetic fastening and vacuum cup.
- Tracking of the probe movement trajectory. It allows to estimate the test quality during the testing process.
Simultaneous operating of 3 different adjustments allows the parallel testing up to 3 layers.
Documenting of testing results and their uploading into PC. Further processing, using of the special program "Operator`s Workbench".
- Multilanguage support.
- Wide range of probes for different types of composite materials, bonded constructions and honeycomb structures.
