Sensor Networks Showcased as Pennsylvania Innovator

State College, PA – Today, Department of Community and Economic Development Deputy Secretary of Technology and Innovation Steve D’Ettorre toured Sensor Networks, Inc. to highlight the innovative work happening right here in Pennsylvania and to discuss Governor Wolf’s innovation budget proposal.
"The commonwealth is emerging as a leader in innovation with exciting developments, and I am excited to see companies like Sensor Networks potentially benefit from Governor Wolf’s proposed innovation plan," said Deputy Secretary D’Ettorre. "By investing in new, innovative projects, programs, and businesses, we will create opportunities for Pennsylvania’s workers and an exciting new path for future generations to follow."
Sensor Networks is a US-based technology company headquartered in State College with offices in Houston, Hong Kong, and Osaka. The company specializes in the production of ultrasonic sensor networks used to measure and monitor metal loss due to corrosion/erosion in industrial assets.
"Sensor Networks, Inc. has grown rapidly here in Central PA thanks to the local infrastructure, robust environment, and the dynamic global markets that we serve. We plan to continue investing in growth with the ability to recruit new employees from local colleges and Penn State University, an essential element to our growth strategy," said Jeff Anderson, President & General Manager of Sensor Networks. "Pennsylvania state programs and funding for education and skills training will further enhance local technology companies, like ours, to hire more employees, create value for all stakeholders, and bring more prosperity to the region."
Last month, Governor Tom Wolf announced an ambitious budget proposal to fuel innovation across Pennsylvania, making the commonwealth a national competitor in attracting and retaining entrepreneurs and startups through strategic funding and community support. Pennsylvania’s new innovation plan includes a $12.35 million funding increase to drive an evidence-based, statewide innovation strategy. This funding would help further innovation—like the work happening at Sensor Networks—at schools and businesses across the commonwealth.
"Sensor Networks, which received its first investment from Ben Franklin Technology Partners in 2015, recently moved its operations into a 22,000-square-foot facility in State College that houses more than 40 employees. Their team, many of whom have been recruited from Penn State University, represents hundreds of years of experience in the field of non-destructive testing," said Stephen Brawley, President & CEO of Ben Franklin Technology Partners. "Because of the increased funding for innovation proposed in Governor Wolf’s budget, Pennsylvania will have the opportunity to attract and retain even more tech startups of this caliber."
