Video - Robot Pipe Crawler Technology for Nondestructive Assay at the Paducah Site
Posted:
Engineers for the U.S. Department of Energy Paducah site deactivation and remediation contractor Four Rivers Nuclear Partnership, LLC, (FRNP) recently tested a robot pipe crawler designed to inspect piping previously used to support uranium enrichment operations. This robot, was customized to work with process gas piping and other equipment at the Paducah site.

Four Rivers Nuclear Partnership, LLC. (FRNP), comprising three strong DOE contractors—Jacobs, BWXT, and Fluor—was formed to meet the unique challenges of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PGDP) Deactivation and Remediation (D&R) project. Led by Jacobs, FRNP brings new leadership while leveraging lessons learned, site history, and detailed knowledge to deliver cost-effective technical solutions.

FRNP understands DOE’s objectives and requirements to achieve continuous process improvements and optimization. We will successfully perform environmental remediation; minimize surveillance and maintenance (S&M) costs; eliminate unnecessary systems; downgrade facility categorization; and reduce landlord costs. We will accomplish all of these things while maintaining public and worker safety and complying with all local, state, and federal regulations.
