FIBERSCOPE has announced a mechanical upgrade and a three-year limited hardware warranty for the TROGLOTREK robotic pipe inspection system. The update is intended to improve field ruggedness while giving inspection teams a more predictable service horizon.
Equipment reliability directly affects the cost of remote visual inspection. A damaged tether, unsuitable reel configuration, or mechanical failure can interrupt data collection and require a second mobilization. The new warranty provides 36 months of coverage against defects in materials and workmanship from the original purchase date, subject to the manufacturer’s terms and exclusions.
TROGLOTREK is a steerable, battery-powered crawler designed for portable, single-operator deployment. Its 984 ft (300 m) tether reel allows operation without a generator or external AC power at the access point. The crawler and camera head are IP68-rated, while the machined-metal control unit is rated IP67 for use in wet field environments.
Depending on configuration, the crawler centers in pipes from 4 to 39 in. (100–990 mm). With the optional Large Wheel Conversion Kit, it can inspect diameters up to 80 in. (2,000 mm).
The operator interface integrates:
• Crawler steering and live video
• On-screen footage counting
• Inclinometer and internal pressure-sensor data
• MPEG-4 video and JPEG image recording to an SD card
• WinCan-compatible workflow support
The 300 m reel is available in manual and powered configurations. The powered version automatically retrieves the tether, which can reduce repetitive cable handling during frequent or long-distance inspections.
An optional stainless-steel Cable Roller is also available separately. Its articulated assembly flexes up to 90° to guide the tether over rough, sharp, or uneven manhole rims and pipe entrances. Keeping the cable away from abrasive surfaces can help reduce friction and localized wear.
Before deployment, teams should verify the reel configuration, assess every access point for cable-abrasion risk, and match the wheel, camera, lighting, and reporting setup to the pipe geometry and inspection procedure.
