Experience
Certified as a level II metals inspector by use of non-destructive testing techniques such, as Liquid Penetrate (PT), Eddy Current (ET), Ultrasonic Detection (UT), Magnetic Particle (MT), and Radiography (RT). Earned USN NEC 7225. Performed routine testing/inspections for the support of F/A-18C, H-3, P-3, EA-6B, A-6, F-16, F-15 series aircraft structures, composite components, engine, related components, and supporting equipment by use of non-destructive test techniques, such as Liquid Penetrate (PT),Magnetic Particle (MT), eddy current (ET), Ultrasonic (UT), and Radiography (RT). Routinely applies non-destructive test/inspection techniques to locate surface defects such as fatigue cracks on A-6, EA-6B Slats using eddy current, using liquid penetrate to inspect an A-6, EA-6B aircraft sling, or using Ultrasonic inspection on a A-6, EA-6B J-52 engine forward combustion area, X-ray inspections of A-6, EA-6B, Sewars and FA-18 stab pack as well as other related components and systems. Interprets defect indications and evaluates them with references to applicable specifications or directives to include AFB's, AYB's, ACB's, TEI's. Routine writing of NDI Technique sheets, for TEI's directives to include as required. Identifying of metal material type through Eddy Current conductivity checks. Set up and calibrate equipment where applicable. Ability to do the work of the position without supervision. Knowledge of technical and trade practices (theoretical, precise, and artistic). Knowledge of tools and equipment used in trade practices. Ability to interpret drawings, instructions, specifications, etc. Ability to troubleshoot, suggest and apply new methods. Successfully implemented 100% tail pipe inspection for the EA-6B using water washable penetrate. Assisted in the evaluation and implementation of AFB-295 for H-3 aircraft aft rotor fittings. Multi-trade technician capable of structural repair, or aircraft painting. Ready to perform Field Service for NDI without notice required. Re certified Jun 2002 through NATEC Detachment, Whidbey Island, WA. Consistently using Microsoft Word, Excel, FEDLOG and NALCOMIS. Daily communication directly with Chain of Command including MMCO, tenant command maintenance chiefs and Engineering both orally and in writing, generating work reports and defect interpretations in memo and NALCOMIS format as well as message format.
