Responsible, for the following: Perform vendor inspections in accordance with the client’s requirements which include, as a minimum: witness testing, dimensional verification, document review, shipping and packaging preparation, witness NDE testing, review procedures, assure material meets the national standards and codes as applicable, and review vendor personnel qualifications and certifications. ABW Technologies manufactures pressure vessels and containment vessels for the nuclear industry as well as private sector. In this position I have been involved with writing NDT procedures, establishing techniques and performing NDT functions such as Ultrasonic testing (shear wave and straight beam) Magnetic particle, and Dye Penetrant. My duties also involved welding inspection as well as dimensional tolerances of fit-up and welding before and after machining, inspection of machined parts, pressure tests, and paint. I have used a wide variety of measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers. Welding inspection was performed to the following codes ASME section VIII,ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, AWS D1.2,. Documentation of inspections was performed in accordance with NQA1 and ISO.

3DUT Provided NDT inspection services to the Prime Contractor, KFM and sub contractor Trans Bay Steel, for the shop fabrication of the pipe hinge beams, piling and pile casings
for the Skyway of the Oakland San Francisco Bay Bridge.
My assignments included non destructive testing, primarily Ultrasonic and some Magnetic particle. Working independently, and as a lead person. In the inspection and testing of the Girth seams and longitudinal seams of the fabricated pipe hinge beams, this work was done to AWSD1.5 fracture critical. Testing was also performed on the girth seams and longitudinal seams of the fabricated Piling and Pile casing for E2 and T1 the foundation for the SAS Tower. This work was done to AWSD1.1

Bepex manufactured pressure vessels and process machinery for processing plastics, resigns, and powders, for the pharmaceutical and food industry. In this position my duties involved welding inspection as well as dimensional tolerances of fit-up and welding before and after machining, inspection of machined parts, hydro of all pressure vessels and final assembly and testing of all machines built. I performed vibration analysis and dynamic balancing and used a wide variety of instruments including micrometers, calipers, and hardness testers.

Bepex 1992 to 1994 I worked as a welder fabricator. Duties included layout fabrication and welding of process machinery, pressure vessels and pressure piping. I have worked with a variety of shapes including cones, cylinders and rectangles. Materials used were mainly 300 series stainless, carbon steel and some Inconell. All welding was done per ASME Sect 9, I held certifications in the following process SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, (short arc) GMAW (pulse)

This included turbines, steam generators, and transmission systems as well as missile launch tubes. My duties included fitting and welding of gears, gearboxes, turbines, castings, and piping ( oil and steam) welding in restricted areas with limited space, as a welder I was certified to Mil-Std 248, ASME section IX, and AWSD1.1 in the following Process GTAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW,GMAW,(spray) GMAW,(pulse) GMAW, (short circuiting) I have welded the following materials Carbon steel, HY80, HY100, 300 and 400 series stainless steels Monel, Inconell, Copper Nickel, and 17-4 PH.

I have over 30 yrs of experience in the welding and construction Industry. As a welder and fabricator I was certified to MIL std-248, AWS D1.1/ASME section VIII & IX . Some of my projects include Propulsion systems for Navy ships and submarines, structural steel, pressure vessels and piping.
I have been an AWS CWI (QC1) since 1994 and have been certified as a level II per ASNT-TC1 and performing NDT mainly UT and some MT since 1998. I recently got level II certified for API QUTE (shearwave) and obtained my ASNT NDT level III in Ultrasonics, Magnetic particle and Dye Penetrant.
My background in welding and working my way up through the industry gives me a thorough understanding of welding and weld deficiencies. This allows me to focus on eliminating wasteful repairs, as well as saving time and money for the owners and contractors.
I have a thorough knowledge and understanding of welding and welding codes. In particular with AWSD1 Structural Steel and AWSD1.5 Bridge welding code AASHTO and the AISC Construction manual, The Uniform Building code, (now ICC) I have also worked to ASME section V. Sect III,VIII, and ASME B31.3
My shop, field and hands on experience in the industry have enhanced my knowledge of all facets of welding, quality control and quality assurance inspections.I am able to communicate with contractors, engineers, and governing agency inspectors to insure quality performance and compliance with contract drawings, specifications and governing codes.
