Key Project Experience

Nuclear Power Plants: In depth knowledge and comprehensive expertise to evaluate areas of plant operations, ranging from the reactor vessel to conventional systems, primary piping, heat exchangers and steam generators; abilities also encompass In-Service Inspections (ISI) and Balance of Plant (BOP) requirements.
Among some of the nuclear plants inspected: Dresden, La Salle, Browns Ferry, Sequoyah, Edwin L. Hatch, Vermont Yankee, Pilgrim, Millstone, Limerick, Susquehanna, Oyster Creek, Hope Creek, James A. Fitzpatrick and Palo Verde

Pipeline Rehabilitation Projects, Western United States and Alaska: Consult, supervise and perform hands-on advanced ultrasonic, magnetic particle and visual examination of thin-wall, in-service petroleum pipelines for In-Line Inspection (ILI) data correlation and maintenance as a component of pipeline integrity programs.

Legacy Highway (I-15 to I-80 Bypass)
Utah Department of Transportation: Senior Bridge Inspector for the QA engineering firm; inspected welding of pilings, bridges and field erection; implemented contractors’ quality control program for bridge structures, provided all welder qualification tests along with welding / bolting procedures.

Gateway Development, Salt Lake City, Utah: Site Project Manager / Senior Special Inspector for special inspections and NDE services. The Gateway is the largest redevelopment project in the history of Utah. It is a $375 million dollar project that combines office, retail, entertainment, cultural and residential uses into an all-encompassing mixed-use development stretching across 40 acres and 4 square city blocks in downtown Salt Lake City.

2002 WINTER OLYMPICS- Venue Developments, Utah: Senior special inspector for structural steel and non-destructive testing at several Olympic venue sites. The Olympic Winter Sports Park was a seven-year project that now houses the world-class North American Bobsled-Luge track and two Olympic ski-jumps.

Interstate I-15 Reconstruction Project, Utah Department of Transportation: A multi-billion dollar project that consisted of the complete reconstruction of Salt Lake City’s main arterial thoroughfare preceding the 2002 Winter Olympic games. As a Senior Bridge and Grading Inspector: Provided continuous inspection of multiple bridges, overpasses, MSE walls, utility lines and roadways over the course of four years.

Bassett Memorial Hospital, Fort Weinwright - Fairbanks, Alaska: Provided full time on-site fabrication and QA/QC inspections for structural steel fabricated by Poong Lim Industries (steel and bridge fabricator) in Seoul, South Korea. On-site structural steel and welding inspection in Fairbanks, Alaska was also provided. Inspections included the monitoring of quality control personnel, document review, dimensional inspections, NDE, and final visual compliance verification. Interfaced with South Korean Structural Engineer to implement the on-site repair procedures; played a key role as site translator in several meetings critical to successful project implementation.

American Stores Tower, Salt Lake City, Utah: Conducted full-time welding observations of the 26 story American Stores Headquarters office building. Responsibilities included: ultrasonic examinations of moment frame welds; continuous monitoring of seismic welding; magnetic particle testing, and special inspections of fireproofing.

Kennecott Smelter Modernization Project, Magna, Utah: Conducted structural steel inspections and welding/bolting observations for the new Kennecott Smelter and Refinery; compiled timely and thorough reports of inspection audits and test results, providing accurate output and findings to Fluor Corporation project managers on a daily basis; supervised a crew of five inspectors; oversaw welding observations, bolt torque inspection, ultrasonic examination, and radiography of utilities / gas lines and boilers.

Shop Fabrication: Devised QA/QC manuals and programs for fabricators and manufacturers; provided numerous shop inspections of pressure vessels, piping, bridge and steel structure projects throughout the western United States. These inspections consisted of qualification and review of welding personnel and procedures as well as NDE programs. An added component of services provided entailed the consideration of updated FEMA requirements in shops that had adopted them.
