I work in Inspection Department, which involves Inspection of Static Equipments, Corrosion Monitoring, Welding & Non Destructive Testing.
I am allotted the CCR-NHT, FCCU, Sulfur & Amine recovery, and Sour Water Stripping units.
My work profile includes: Study of the Process Parameters, Metallurgical Flow Diagrams and Process & Instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). Various standards such as American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Petroleum Institute (API), Tubular Exchangers Manufacturers Association (TEMA), American Society of Testing of Materials (ASTM), British Standards (BS), Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR), Safety of Nucleonic Gauges (By Bhabha Atomic Research Center).
Also study of Stainless Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel, Cathodic Protection System (CP), Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Requirements (PQR), Corrosion behaviour of various steels in various environments, such as Naphthenic Acid Corrosion, Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC), Caustic Embrittlement, Stress Corrosion Cracking, Sulfur Stress Corrosion Cracking.
Operating various NDT equipments such as Ultrasonic flaw & thickness detection, Magnetic Particle Indication (MPI), Radiography (Interpretation of Radiographs), Dry & Wet paint film thickness, Dye Penetrant Test, etc.
Witnessing hydrotest of Pipelines and releasing Field Observation Notes (FON) regarding the same. Study and checking the mechanical designs of Safety Valves, Tanks, Spheres, Nozzles and Piping. Design thickness calculations and Remnant Life Assessment (RLA) of Furnace tubes.
Preparing Checklist for Boiler Shut Down. Base line data collection for Heat Exchangers, Heaters, Tanks and Spheres for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Identifying critical equipments installed in the Refinery and making plans for their continuous monitoring by Thermography, Placing Corrosion Coupons for corrosion behaviour and visual inspection. Calculation of the quantity of critical material (Alloy & Stainless Steel) installed in the Refinery so as to maintain inventory. Worked on the Selection of indigenous and Non-Metallic Materials, which will be installed as and when it can be.
