India’s second largest petroleum refinery with a capacity of 10.5 million tones per annum.
Worked in Inspection Department, which involves Inspection of Static Equipments, Corrosion Monitoring, Welding and Non Destructive Testing.

• In charge of CCR-NHT, FCCU, Sulfur & Amine recovery, and Sour Water Stripping units.
• Work profile included: Study of the Process Parameters, Metallurgical flow diagrams and Process & Instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). Various standards such as American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Petroleum Institute (API), Tubular Exchangers Manufacturers Association (TEMA), American Society of Testing of Materials (ASTM), British Standards (BS), Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR), Safety of Nucleonic Gauges (By Bhabha Atomic Research Center).
• Study of stainless steel, Duplex stainless steel, Cathodic Protection System (CP), Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Requirements (PQR), Corrosion behavior in various environments such as Naphthenic acid corrosion, Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC), Caustic embrittlement, Stress corrosion cracking, and Sulfur stress corrosion cracking.
• Operated various NDT equipments such as Ultrasonic flaw & thickness detection, Magnetic Particle Indication (MPI), Radiography (Interpretation of radiographs), Dry & wet paint film thickness, Dye penetrant test.
• Witnessed hydrotest of pipelines and released Field Observation Notes (FON), studied and checked the mechanical designs of safety valves, tanks, spheres, nozzles and piping. Design thickness calculations and Remnant Life Assessment (RLA) of furnace tubes.
• Checklist for boiler shut down. Base line data collection for heat exchangers, heaters, tanks and spheres for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Identified critical equipments installed in the refinery and made plans for their continuous monitoring by Thermography, corrosion coupons for corrosion behavior and visual inspection. Calculation of the quantity of critical material (alloy & stainless steel) installed in the refinery so as to maintain inventory. Worked on the selection of indigenous and non-metallic materials.
